[lastfm]Phil Collins[/lastfm] is headed back to his teenage years with a new CD, Going Back, covering classic Motown hits.
According to Collins, “It shouldn’t really be a surprise to anyone that I’ve finally made an album of my favorite Motown songs. These songs, along with a couple of [lastfm]Dusty Springfield[/lastfm] tracks, a Phil Spector/[lastfm]Ronettes[/lastfm] tune, and one by the Impressions, make up the tapestry, the backdrop, of my teenage years.”
Collins isn’t planning on adding a new spin on the songs, but intends to retain the classic sounds that are identifiable with the originals.
Collins said, “My idea was not to bring anything new to these already great records, but to try to recreate the sounds and feelings that I had when I first heard them.”
Going Back will be released September 13th, 2010.
