“At Last” singer [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Etta James[/lastfm] has been diagnosed with Leukemia. The 72 year-old icon has undergone treatment for the disease and has also been diagnosed with dementia.

Her husband, Artis Mills, is seeking control of her finances as she battles the disease and continues to succumb to the cerebral syndrome. According to the documents filed by Mills, Etta is unable to perform simple hygienic tasks or feed herself.

We haven’t seen much from Etta James, but she surfaced to criticize singer [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Beyonce[/lastfm] for her rendition of “At Last” at President Obama’s inauguration.

Over the course of her career, Etta James has recorded 27 albums and won four Grammy awards.
