Remember [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Beatles[/lastfm]‘ remastered box set of all their classic albums? The compilation got its due last night at the GRAMMY Awards in Los Angeles.

The Beatles’ “Stereo Box Set” received the “Best Historical Album” honor at the 53rd annual GRAMMY Awards, beating out four other substantial collections: Not Fade Away (a new [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Buddy Holly[/lastfm] collection), The Complete Mother’s Best Recordings (unreleased [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Hank Williams[/lastfm] recordings), Los Angeles Nuggets (’60s garage rock), and and Alan Lomax in Haiti.

The box set features 16 discs of completely remastered editions of the Beatles’ entire studio catalog, from Please Please Me through Past Masters.

Each album came with its original artwork in high-quality “digi-packaging.” First released at the end of 2009, the set still goes for about $185 on Amazon.

All things considered, should GRAMMY voters have even nominated anyone else for the award? The Beatles are about as historic as popular music gets, and a remastered set of their catalog is just a re-affirmation of their legacy.

So as if you even needed to know, the Beatles’ Stereo Box Set is a significant group of recordings. And the GRAMMYs confirmed that even further.
