Liam Neeson thought he’d go to the movies, and see himself in a cameo part in The Hangover II, things change. His cameo scene had been cut out!
Todd Phillips, the Hangover II’s director discovered while editing the film that the scene immediately following Neeson’s cameo wouldn’t be needed any longer, so upon removing it from the film and dropping it to the floor, he realized one more thing. He needed to reshoot Neeson’s scene. Therein lies the problem, Neeson was shooting Wrath of the Titans in England and wouldn’t be available.
Question: What to do? What to do? Answer: Find the 3rd actor to re-shoot the scene with. You see, the role was originally going to be played by Mel Gibson, however, the crew wouldn’t work with Mel due to his personal life issues. The part was re-cast with Liam Neeson in the role of the tattoo artist who gives Ed Helms a Mike Tyson type tat on his face…and now…more problems.
Third time’s a charm they say. So on a short time table, with a release date of May 26th, Phillips scrambled and found Nick Cassavetes to fill the vacancy. According to Phillips, Nick “crushed it”.
The Hangover Part II reunites all the stars from the original outing, including Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms as the wolfpack experience a deja vu of their Vegas outing, when they awake after a night of partying, in Thailand, and missing a member of their party… again.
