After 94 episodes in six years on HBO, seven Emmy awards, eight Golden Globe awards, continued reruns, and two major motion pictures, it appears that it may be the end of the line for Sex and the City, according to a story on PopEater.com.
Kim Cattrell says she would love to play Samantha Jones in a third Sex and the City installment of the internationally renown series, but, doesn’t know if that will happen.
“I don’t know if it will happen. I really, really have no idea,” Cattrall told PopEater.com. She continued, ‘ “I love playing Samantha Jones. I would love playing Samantha Jones again, but I don’t know if I will.”
It was just last week that Chris Noth, who plays Carrie Bradshaw’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) love interest said he felt the future does not look good for another SITC film.
Cattrell however, who’s been labelled as the most “difficult” cast member to work with says she was always reluctant about turning the TV show into feature films, for several reasons.
Cattrall said, “Originally I was asked to do the movie with no script no start date and a very paltry sum. I thought the three of us should fight for a piece of what we created and that was my reluctance,” she continued, “The four of us were not set for life. We were on cable TV and we were not making nearly what our counterparts in television were making. I thought we were working damn hard and it was the time to negotiate that.”
Cattrall went on to say that in England they aren’t interested in casting her as Samantha again. That being said, it’s a long shot…don’t expect to the trilogy. It looks like the end of an era…sorry ladies.
Cattrall is currently working on a project for the BBC which she will be producing.
