Heeeere come the Venom! It’s not only the Orlando Magic anymore. There’s a new professional basketball league and team coming to O-town.
The IBL is the “International Basketball League” and the new franchise that’s been awarded to Central Florida is the Orlando Venom.
The league is seven years old, has twelve teams and boasts higher scoring (averaging 126 ppg) because of rules designed to speed up the game and make it more exciting.
For example, some of the reasons the action is faster is because the IBL has an “immediate inbound” rule, and only one timeout per quarter…creating a faster paced, and more high scoring affair.
The Venom’s web site says tickets will only be $10 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under, making it affordable for a family night out (again).
The team’s roster hasn’t been filled yet. So, if you know a “baller”…here’s their chance to break into pro ball. Tryouts are just days away @ Winter Park Community Center, 721 New England Ave., Winter Park, Fl. Tryout dates are January 28 – 3-8pm, January 29 – 10am-3pm, February 11 – 3-8pm, February 12 – 10am-3pm, February 25 – 3-8pm and February 26 – 10am-3pm. There is a tryout fee.
