We are all aware of the passing of Whitney Houston, however, you may not be aware that the Governor of New Jersey (where Whitney was born and began her singing career) has ordered all state government buildings to fly their flags at half-staff in honor of the singer on Saturday (the day of her funeral services).  That, leads us to today’s Paco Poll.

Some people are offended that Whitney Houston’s death is being honored by having New Jersey’s flags flown at half-staff this Saturday, the day of her funeral services  saying that she became addicted to drugs and alcohol on her own account and that was the cause of her death.  Many say it was a slap in the face to military veterans who don’t necessarily receive the same respect when one (“ordinary person”) dies in battle.

While others argue that she was an iconic figure in the music industry and the most decorated female artist in the annals of modern music.  They argue that as a New Jersey native, born and bred, she deserves the honor.

However, we want to know what YOU think!  Take the Paco Poll now!

How do you feel about New Jersey honoring Whitney Houston by flying flags at half-staff at all state government buildings this Saturday, the day of her funeral services?!

Will this same state fly the flag for every military person killed in action?
Or every Humanitarian, teacher, doctor or nurse who dies?
How about all of the little children who die every day of Cancer?
Where is their flag or grand celebration held in a stadium?

    One more thought.
With all of the fame and fortune that Whitney had all of her life, can you think of a single time that she gave generously to any needy person, group or organization?
She was, in my opinion, the truest definition of a DIVA, defintion, devoted completely to oneself.
What a terrible waste of such a wonderful gift.

That is one heck of a slap in the face to those that have served our country! Yes, she did have a great voice which she CHOSE to destroy with drugs! The flag honors those that truly deserve it. My heart goes out to her family and especially her daughter–but she should not have the flags lowered for her. She decided years ago to travel down the path that would destroy her–it was her choice and deserves no honor!!!!!

I think it a wonderful thing to be recognized as a person of excellence regardless of hard times that comes with the human condition. Many argue and complain about men fighting and dying due to the reasons of war.

The drug war in the USA is not so easy to overlook and avoid when one does not have to travel across the globe to find it. One can walk right outside of their home and become a product of such a meaningless war. I hope that people can understand the harm drugs have on the human body and work hard to refrain from using.

Whitney is an excellent example of well known wonderful human being falling victim to that war. There is little honor in dying for something meaningless but it is the living responsibility to hold on to the history of those who has passed and learn and grow from their experiences.

I love Whitney and her voice was as close to heavenly as I can imagine and with that gift that she gave us as a people around the world; I say yes, honor her greatness and feel sad about her losing the war. It is not easy living the life of a celebrity and to have giving so much of oneself is a beautiful thing.

So, Whitney you be blessed and know that you will be missed greatly and remembered for many years to come.
