From old report cards to gold records, Annie Lennox has been careful to save and preserve the treasured items of her past. Now these prized possessions are on display in a new museum exhibit.

The House of Annie Lennox, which opened July 7th in the singer’s hometown of Aberdeen, Scotland and ends on September 29, is an exhibition that celebrates the life and career of Annie Lennox.

Organized by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the exhibit features music videos and awards she received both as a solo artist and as one half of the Eurythmics. The show also highlights Annie’s personal style with costumes she’s worn along the red carpet and in music videos like the purple velvet Renaissance-style costume she donned for “No More ‘I Love You’s'” in 1986 and the black sequined floor length gown she wore for 1992′s “Little Bird.”

In an interview with the BBC, Annie joked about her immense collection saying, “I’m not exactly a hoarder, but I’m sentimental about things.”

The exhibit also includes memorabilia from many of the political causes she has championed along with family photographs and notebooks filled with lyrics. The show also includes a piece specially written by Annie and a video interview from the singer.

The first stop at the Aberdeen Art Gallery is especially meaningful for the Scottish born singer, who used to visit the gallery as a kid.

“It feels like coming full circle to be actually holding an exhibition here myself, over forty years later,” she said in a statement. “I very much hope that people get a better sense of my life as an artist and a communicator, and can derive a similar sense of inspiration that I enjoyed from my visits here.”

Go to Annie’s website for more information about the show.

Watch her classic video for “Walking on Broken Glass” off of 1992′s Diva below. I think we all hope her velvet turban will make its way into the exhibition at some point.
