As if Mick Jagger hasn’t got his hands full enough – what with upcoming Stones shows and more 50th anniversary activity in 2013 – he will now serve as one of the producers on an upcoming James Brown biopic. Jagger joins top film/TV producer Brian Grazer, who’s currently wrapping a documentary on Jay-Z’s Made in America fest, as a producer of the long-in-the-works film, Deadline  reports.

“It’s a great honor to be involved with a project as rich as the story of the legendary James Brown,” Jagger said in a release. “He was a mesmerizing performer with a fascinating life.”

Tate Taylor, screenwriter and director of The Help, is in talks to direct. The film, which will be co-produced by Jagger’s Jagged Films and Grazer’s Imagine Entertainment, is currently in need of distribution and an actor to portray the “hardest working man in show business.”

Grazer has been working on the biopic for a number of years, with Brown himself involved before his 2006 death. The film aims to portray Brown’s rise from extreme poverty to super-stardom.

“I am deeply honored that Mick Jagger and Brian Grazer, two of my husband James Brown’s favorite people, have entered into a partnership to bring his inspirational story to the big screen,” Brown’s widow, Tommie Rae Brown, said in a release.
