Today In Music History: 10/28/16

Let’s do a big happy birthday to Bill Gates who is 61 today.

Happy Friday, let’s get to the music history…

On this day in 1956 Elvis became the first rock artist to replace himself at #1, when “Hound Dog” was replaced by “Love Me Tender.”

On this day in 1971 John Lennon and Yoko Ono recorded the Vietnam War protest song “Happy Xmas (War is Over).” The kids singing on the song are from the Harlem Community Choir.

Steve Perry made his first concert appearance as the lead singer of Journey on this day in 1977.

And finally, on this day in 1986, “True Colors” by Cyndi Lauper was the #1 song.
