Nickelback’s Music Used as Drunk Driving Deterrent

By Tim Staskiewicz

You should never, ever, drink and drive.

Always designate a driver or take a cab, Uber, Lyft, public transit, and just get home safe.

We’ve heard it before, and it always bears repeating, but now a police department up in Canada has decided to spread the message virally with a little creativity.

If Kensington Police of Prince Edward Island catches you driving over the limit, not only are you going to jail, you’re going to listen to nothing but Nickelback on your ride to the big house.

“The Kensington Police Service will be out for the remainder of year looking for those dumb enough to feel they can drink and drive. And when we catch you, and we will catch you, on top of a hefty fine, a criminal charge and a years driving suspension we will also provide you with a bonus gift of playing the offices copy of Nickelback in the cruiser on the way to jail,” reads a post on the police department’s Facebook page.

“Now, now, no need to thank us, we figure if you are foolish enough to get behind the wheel after drinking then a little Chad Kroeger and the boys is the perfect gift for you,” the officers continue.
