This time of the year, more people commit suicide than any other time of the year. Sometimes people feel like they have nothing to live for. Many find themselves in difficult situations. No job, no money, no home, no presents. In some cases, there isn’t even a tree, never mind the presents.
I would be a liar if I said it hasn’t been that way for me in my past. However, here is an opportunity for you to do something positive for someone less fortunate than you, and it won’t cost you that much.
The Orlando Solar Bears will host in state rivals, the Florida Everblades this Friday at the Amway Center. But this matchup will be MORE than just a hockey game, it will be an opportunity for you and I to make a difference in the lives of children in the Central Florida area that may not have much to look forward to during the Christmas season.
The Solar Bears are holding their 5th annual Teddy Bear Toss at Friday’s game. The puck drops at 7 p.m. at the Amway Center, and here’s how you can help.
Solar Bear fans are encouraged to bring a new teddy bear or stuffed animals to throw onto the ice when Orlando scores its first goal of the game. And here’s additional motivation for you to bring a stuffed little buddy to toss, if you need it! Anyone who brings a stuffed animal to toss onto the ice at the game, will receive a voucher to go to ANOTHER Solar Bears home game. All the teddy bears and stuffed animals collected will be donated to needy children through local charities during the holiday season.
If you’d like to buy YOUR ticket to attend, and make a difference in some little kid’s holiday, you can get a BOGO ticket to this season’s Teddy Bear Toss game at orlandosolarbearshockey.com/teddy.
The Teddy Bear Toss is a popular event throughout the professional and since it’s creation in 1993, the concept has been adopted by many professional hockey teams, including the Orlando Solar Bears. It’s resulted in thousands of teddy bears and stuffed animals going to needy children.
Single-game tickets are now on sale at the Amway Center box office and ticketmaster.com. We hope to see you Friday night.
Go Teddy Bears!
