With television roles like Laura Petrie on The Dick Van Dyke Show and Mary Richards on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Mary Tyler Moore cemented her name in entertainment history. And then after leaving TV, she went on to an Academy Award nomination for her role in the film Ordinary People.
She was an amazing talent and today, after her death at the age of 80, her entertainment industry peers, including former co-stars Dick Van Dyke, Ed Asner and more, took to social media to pay their respects.
The picture that we all have of Mary, that’s how she was—sweet, kind, so tender, so delicate. She was America’s sweetheart. We loved you.
