Everyone that knows me knows that I’m infamous for filing my taxes late! I have this mental block when it comes to having to do our taxes. So when I saw this article on “Things People Think Are More Stressful Than Doing Taxes” I knew I wasn’t alone! Yaay!
A new survey from Business Journals finds that 53% of American’s lack confidence when it comes to accurately filing their taxes on their own, although 73% are confident about filing using a computer or online tax software. I am definitely in the first batch which is why I pay an accountant to help us with our taxes. They know us so well they file extensions for us every April.
So doing your taxes isn’t easy, and a lot of Americans think there are few things tougher than getting them filed correctly. In fact, 28% of Americans who admit they are addicted to the their cells say it would be easier to go without their phone for a week than do their taxes. Okay, don’t get crazy people! This is your phone we’re talking about!
Here’s a list of other things people thought would be easier than doing their taxes:
- Locating constellations in the sky at night (27%)
- Going without a car for a week (23%)
- Memorizing all of the U.S. presidents in order (18%)
- Learning to play an instrument (13%)
- Learning a new language or hotwire a car (12%)
- Learning to write code (11%)
Not sure I agree with this list of “Things That Would Be Easier Than Doing Your Taxes,” especially the one implying an illegal activity. You know what I find easier than doing my taxes? Ignoring them. Works for me.
