Wow so not only do we have to compete with robots for our jobs but now they’re taking away our chance at breaking a world record!
Guinness World Records has recognized a robot called FORPHEUS as officially the “first robot table tennis tutor. The New York Post reports, “The contraption, which holds a ping pong paddle and can play against and even teach a human, taps artificial intelligence to determine the ability of its opponent. It uses two vision sensors to keep a robotic eye on the ball, as well as a movement sensor that focuses on the human player’s movement.”

Yeah not sure I’m really impressed with FORPHEUS, I mean seriously he/she/it is bigger than the table itself and isn’t that the nice thing about ping-pong, the simplicity of it? Besides I don’t see FORPHEUS do any angry strikes and that’s half the fun in a family friendly game, am I right? ~grace
