Today In Music History: 03/09/17

Former Procol Harem guitarist Robin Trower is 72 today and former Paul Revere and the Raiders lead vocalist Mark Lindsay, whom I’ve seen many times at the Hippiefest, is 75.

On this day in 1964,  the Ford Motor Company, began production of the Mustang. Cars and music is why I am here today.

Let’s go to  “The Ed Sullivan Show,” on this day in 1969, when Creedence Clearwater Revival performed “Proud Mary” and “Good Golly Miss Molly.”

The Eagles began recording “I Can’t Tell You Why,” on this day in 1978, the first song to feature new bass guitarist Timothy B. Schmit on lead vocals.

On this day in 1980 “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” by Queen was the #1 song.

On this day in 1985, Mick Jagger released his solo song, “Just Another Night.”

It was on this day in 1987, that U2 released my favorite album of theirs, “The Joshua Tree.”

I was actually working out in L.A. on this fateful day in 1997, the rapper known as Notorious BIG, was leaving a party and was shot and killed at the age of 24.
