Here are your birthdays today. Adam Clayton, from U2, is 57, Charo, who is on the new season of DWTS, is 76, and Neil Sedaka is 78.

Ricky Nelson recorded “Travelin’ Man,” on this day in 1961, the song was originally written for Sam Cooke.

Let’s go to this day in 1965. Unhappy with the pop direction taken with their latest single “For Your Love,” Eric Clapton quit the Yardbirds. Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker later formed the band Cream.

The Jackson 5 moved from Motown to Epic Records on this day in 1976. Motown owned the name Jackson 5, so they changed their name to the Jacksons. The first song they released was “Enjoy Yourself.”

If you have ever wondered what the first ever cassette single was here in the U.S., It happened on this day in 1987, when Bryan Adams released “Heat of the Night.”

Same day, same year, Bob Seger gets his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Here’s my favorite Seger song to celebrate.

On this day in 2004, Luciano Pavarotti gave his final opera performance at the Metropolitan Opera in New York.

And finally, it was 3 years ago today that the U.S. Postal Service began selling 49-cent Jimi Hendrix commemorative stamps.
