Keys to Independence is a first-in-the-nation program that removes barriers that keep youth in foster care from earning a driver’s license. The self-sufficiency that comes from having a driver’s license enables foster teens to get jobs, go to school, engage socially and contribute to the community. Keys to Independence reimburses the cost of getting a license, insurance and driver’s education. The program is managed by Community Based Care of Central Florida.
Joe Durso, Vice President of Public Affairs for Community Based Care of Central Florida, talked about Keys to Independence on SUNNY Across Central Florida.
