I’m not a chef, nor do I profess to know how to cook much. It was recently that I learned how to boil water and not burn it. In fact, the other day, I was making hard boiled egss, I left for work, and realized one block away that the eggs were still on the stove. Good thing I turned around (in time) to save them, because all the water in the pot was gone!
Chef Dawn Viola certainly does NOT have that problem. She competed on a TV cooking show last year and came in third. Very respectful. But, Chef Viola didn’t see it as “win, place, show”. She saw it as a loss. So when the Food Network invited her to compete again, this time on their show Cooks vs Cons, she had the burning in the pit of her stomach (pun intended) to redeem herself. According to The Orlando Sentinel, Viola said, “I figured what better way to redeem myself than on national television?” She was right. By the way, she did.
In this program (competition) there are four in the kitchen. Two chefs and two home cooks. They are given secret ingredients which they must incorporate into their meals. Only the judges know the identity of each person. The competitors have no clue what each of them is.
Though it’s been about seven months since her cream rose to the top, the Food Network is going to rerun her show again tonight (April 5th). You can catch it, and her glorious victory, at 8pm.
Dawn took home $10,000 with the win and plans to use it to complete her master’s degree in holistic health and nutrition education. She is also planning to open her own teaching kitchen.
With her determined spirit, we believe she’ll not only open it…but, it’s gonna be delish!
