It’s been more than three years since most of us have heard from 68 year old fitness guru Richard Simmons. Actually since February of 2014.
There was speculation that he’d been abused by one of his personal assistants, some thought that he’d left the country, even others thought that he has passed away.
Well, just this Monday, he was hospitalized for “severe indigestion”. After being released, he thought it was time to address the issues with his many fans, friends, and followers who’d been worried all this time.
Simmons spoke with People magazine and said to his fans, “I hope to see you all soon,” and continued by saying that he, “was not missing.”
He released a statement which read, “Hello to everyone who has shown concern for me and sent their good wishes. You will never know how much it means to me. Aren’t you sick of hearing and reading about me?! LOL Well by now you know that I’m not ‘missing,’ just a little under the weather. I’m sure I will be feeling good and back home in a couple of days.”
Richard’s manager, Michael Catalano said that he had decided that he needed medical attention because he couldn’t take the stomach pains any longer.
Simmons also said, “I reached out and I hope you will too. I’m sure there are people in your life who love and care for you and would do anything to help you with the challenges you face. Just knowing you care has already made me feel better. Hope to see you again soon!”
There was renewed interest in Simmons when this past February, the podcast, “Missing Richard Simmons” was released and it generated talk, interest and emotions about his whereabouts, and concern for his health. Catalano reiterated to People magazine that time that Richard Simmons was ok, and the fans were worried for no real reason.
“It was always about everybody else first, and I think this is a little bit reflection time. He was ready to quiet down is what he’s told me, and it doesn’t mean he’s done, but for now, he’s enjoying the time away from the public.”
This past March, L.A. Police conducted a welfare check to ensure he was safe and left after the visit with the belief that our worries were unfounded.
However, even though Catalano confirmed the statement from Simmons is legit, many are asking why he released a photo which some insiders say was taken in 2013. Time will tell.
But, whether you’re a follower, or a casual fan, we all hope he returns to health quickly.
All the best Richard. Now, let’s get back to Sweatin’ With The Oldies”, so – drop and give me 50!
