Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are businessmen.
I remember one time watching the old A&E TV show “Simmons Family Jewels” where they followed the Kiss front man and his adventures across the country and around the world.
One of the things that stood out in my mind was that he had a room in his home, with much of the merchandising for the band KISS.
He’d shown the camera, Kiss condoms, and then turned and showed a KISS coffin, and remarked, “we get you when you’re coming and we get you when you’re going.”
Truth be told, Gene was a marketing machine. He capitalized on every opportunity he could to convert the KISS brand into another KISS dollar.
Well, now he and Paul Stanley have done it (once again) in the restaurant category.
Just over a year ago, they opened their first east coast location in Oviedo, and now, they’re opening another in the Lee Vista Promenade shopping center near Orlando International Airport.
The Dynamic (R0ck) Duo will have 20 open restaurants on Monday when the doors swing open for business…with two in Central Florida.
Rumors are that they also are already planning a third to open next year. When that locations opens for business, they will have 30 restaurants, and ten percent of their entire roster will be located here in the Orlando metro area.
My conversation with Paul (and a year ago with he and Gene) was a testament to persistence, and perseverance to getting goals accomplished.
They told me they’d wanted to create a restaurant where you could have (most importantly) good food, a nice atmosphere, and children and pet friendly. Yes, I said pet friendly.
You can take your pet there, and they have doggie biscuits for your lil family member.
Their, indoor/outdoor scheme allows for relaxing in the Florida sun (provided that it’s not too hot and humid), and the big screens inside, with rock videos and great music (we grew up with) makes for a fun time.
They offer up to 100 beers, and pretty darn good grub.
Paul admitted, that THAT was their goal. If so, mission accomplished!
Gene Simmons reminded us that Rock & Brews serves everything from cheeseburgers, to kale salads , in case as Simmons said you are trying to “…watch your girlish figure.”
Here’s yet another reason to support these guys, after every opening, the restaurants have a special event for veterans and they make a donation to a local veterans-focused nonprofit. The Lee Vista location is planning theirs for August. You can expect both Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley to be there. Those are their plans.
So, maybe I’ll see you there this Monday. I’ll be the one eating…and eating.
Check out my interview with Gene Simmons & Paul Stanley and see what they have to say.
As well as my interview on Friday, April 21st with Paul Stanley about their new “Rock & Brews” opening next Monday.
