Variety reports that actor Powers Boothe, known for both film and TV, has died at the age of 68. According to his rep, he died of natural causes in sleep Sunday in Los Angeles.
Boothe’s resume was a big one, and if you don’t recognize the name, you surely recognize the face.
In 1980, Boothe scored a Best Actor Emmy for his gripping portrayal of cult leader Jim Jones in Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones.
His most recent television role was as the tyrannical father and former mayor on Nashville. Other television includes Deadwood, 24, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hatfields & McCoys. Notable films include Southern Comfort, Red Dawn, The Emerald Forest, Nixon and the two Sin City films.
His good friend Beau Bridges delivered this tweet shortly after learning of his death.
