Today In Music History: 06/08/17

Happy birthdays going out to Bonnie Tyler, Boz Scaggs, and former Three Dog Night front man Chuck Negron.

We start on this day in 1968, when Gary Puckett and the Union Gap released “Lady Willpower.” It peaked at #2 and sold over a million copies.

The #1 song on this day in 1974 was “Band On The Run,” by Paul McCartney and Wings, his third solo US No.1.

The Who released “The Kids Are Alright,” on this day in 1979, as a companion to the band’s documentary film of the same name.

It was 1984 and “Ghostbusters,” starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Harold Ramis, and Rick Moranis, opened in U.S. and Canadian movie theaters. The theme song for the movie hit #1 in August.

On this day in 1991, Bruce Springsteen married his backup singer Patti Scialfa. They are still together and have 3 kids ( 2 boys and a girl.)
