Court Decides On Monkey Selfie

By Grace Vasquez

How adorable is this guy? OMG! Love these pics! Saying that, what the heck is the court thinking to even consider this ridiculous case?

At the center of the case is a 2011 photo of macaque monkey, Naruto, on an Indonesian island apparently took his own selfie pics with the encouragement of a British nature photographer.  PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) filed on behalf the toothy grinning monkey. The federal court heard arguments for 45-minutes on whether an animal can hold a copyright to selfie photos.

I love animals but can’t agree with PETA on this one however, the photographer, David Slater, is the one hurting here and it is his camera therefore, his photo and not the monkey. Sorry monkey. You still are a cutie! ~grace
