Today In Music History: 08/04/17

Let’s start on this day in 1970, when the Doors frontman Jim Morrison was arrested for suspicion of public drunkenness after being discovered lying unconscious on the front porch of his friend Elenor Brough.

Jim Stafford recorded “Spiders And Snakes,” on this day in 1973.

On this day in 1975, while vacationing on the isle of Rhodes, singer Robert Plant and his wife were badly injured when the rental car he was driving spun off the road and crashed, forcing the cancellation of Led Zeppelin’s upcoming U.S. tour. Plant broke an ankle and an elbow in the accident, and didn’t fully recover for two years.

It was on this day in 1980, that John Lennon and Yoko Ono began recording their album “Double Fantasy.”

We jump to 1984, the soundtrack for Purple Rain hits #1 and stays there for an amazing 22 weeks.

And finally, it was on this day in 1994, that The Notorious B.I.G. married Faith Evans.
