It was amazing to see how much energy House of Da'Le brought to the stage. The new exercise craze sweeping the country is "Zumba" a Brazilian born "dance/exercise" that incorporates Spanish rhythms from Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Bachata, Reggaeton, & Dance. They electrified the crowd with their contagious energy! Prior to beginning, Susan (who admitted to be almost 70) prefaced their performance saying, "I have no rhythm, and if I can do it, you can too!" They ALL did an amazing job. You can visit them in the Oviedo Mall to take classes in Zumba, Bellydancing, Yoga, Turbokick, Boot Camp, and general fitness. (Photo by Paco Lopez)

The band 17-70 started in 2007 as a group of Winter Springs police officers and members of their family who wanted to get together and play music. This fun activity has turned into a rock band that plays several community events each year. From their first public performance in the Winter Springs Town Center to their high energy performance this past Saturday, it's all been done for fun, never for pay. Over the last five years the band has played everything from D.A.R.E. graduations and fund raisers for families in need to The Taste of Oviedo, the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life and the Winter Springs Celebration of Freedom on the 4th of July. The current band members are Officers Dave Raney, John Briggle and Jim Wilkins, Communications Operator Kyle Wilkins and family members A.J. Wilkins and Carlos Negron. Thank you for your service in the community and your performance on stage! We appreciate both! (Photo by Tom Gottshalk)
